Sad News. . .

It looks like Wally is very sick. The vet came to our house today to give all 3 animals their shots, heartworm preventive, cut toe nails, etc. For the past 2 weeks we have noticed that animal was going to the bathroom all over the house. YUCK!! It is like 6 times a day and 2-3 times at night. Not FUN!

The vet took care of Bruce and Millie and gave them clean bills of health. Yea! Millie didn't like her nails being clipped today. She was funny. She was semi howling at him. It was like she thought she was too special to have her nails clipped.

Next it was Wally's turn. I put on his party hat, aka muzzle. Wally has gotten very grouchy in his old age. He used to like our Vet, now he tries to take off his hands. Mine, too. This is why for 2 hours before he gets there I have to medicate him. He gets the muzzle for our protection. The dr listens to him and feels his stomach. I could see it in his face. He asked if his stomach was always swollen looking or hard. I told him yes. He informed me and mom that he thinks Wally has Cushings Disease. He said it's not good. Treatment is extrememly expensive and it doesn't always work.

At this time, the dr said he was done looking at Wally. After several attempts to collect some blood for blood work, he finally was able to collect a small amount. He is such a kind and gentle man. He said he didn't want to give Wally his shots. He was afraid it would put too much stress on his poor body. He also said it probably wouldn't do him any good.

I have felt for awhile that he was sick. I know his time is short with us right now. My heart is sad. Wally has been my little buddy since Clyde brought him home from Bill and Glenda. Wally would always stay at my feet when he was little. To this day, he still isn't far from me.

Wally is a very well liked dog in the neighborhood and with some of our closest friends. He is always the first to greet someone at the door. His bark sounds worse than it is. He has also been referred to as the "Giant Hamster".

I will truly miss my little buddy.
